How to move from Squarespace to PHP Site Manager

Squarespace exports a WordPress-format file with layout pages, one blog, and text and image blocks. Store, portfolio and most other page types, headers and footers, and style settings are not included. We import the file, then read your live site for anything the file leaves out.

We read your home page and sitemap once, like a search engine would. Nothing is copied or stored until you ask us to move you.

Steps

  1. In Squarespace: Settings, Import and export, Export

  2. Upload the file in Admin, Import and export

  3. Use the website importer for pages the file missed

  4. Point your domain at us; old addresses redirect to the new pages

Questions

Can I take my domain with me?

Yes. You keep your domain; we show you which records to change at your registrar.

What happens to my old Squarespace plan?

Keep it running until the new site is live and checked, then cancel it with Squarespace.

Will my pages keep the same addresses?

You can keep them, or change them and let the redirects handle the old ones.

Want us to do the move?

Setup help ($249 once) includes importing your pages and setting up redirects.
